Environmental/Sustainability Policy

Introduction

We recognise that our operations have an impact on the environment (e.g. result in emissions to air and water, and the generation of waste.) It is our aim to comply with legislation and other requirements, continue to reduce the environmental impacts of our business and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.

Responsibility

This environmental policy applies to all of our operations. John Spackman (Managing Director) is responsible for ensuring that the policy is implemented.

Specific policies

  • Reduce fuel usage
  • Promoting the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, by adopting energy and water saving measures, utilising renewable technologies and the procurement of products with a high recycled content
  • Minimising waste product, and recycling suitable materials wherever practicable
  • Promoting the use of products that have a low environmental impact in their production, use and disposal
  • Avoid the use of hazardous substances.

Monitoring and auditing

Progress against these objectives will be monitored through monthly management meetings.

Our Environmental Policy

We at Keymen Associates Limited have built our business success on striving for excellence in all our activities.

Included in the strategy of improving the profitability of the business is the company’s aim of creating and sustaining an effective and appropriate environmental management system that will satisfy our customer demands and have the broader benefit of minimising our impact on the environment.

The company recognises that sustained commitment by all levels of employee is essential for success. As part of that commitment provision will be made to promote individual and collective accountability for achieving environmental improvements.

The issues addressed by the policy and resultant programmes will be fully resourced and communicated, explained to all our employees and anyone else it affected by the company’s activities then implemented, maintained and monitored.

To sustain and protect the environment in which the company exists, our policy, systems and programmes will:

  • Be appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of its activities, products and services
  • Minimise the impact on flora and fauna including the protection of endangered species and habitats
  • Promote services that deliver goods and services that are safe, effective and efficient
  • Support the company’s commitment to continual improvement and the prevention of pollution in whatever form
  • Ensure that products used are reusable, recyclable or where this is not possible disposed of in a safe manner
  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation as a minimum standard
  • Provide for all appropriate Duty of Care requirements
  • Make provision for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets which will be practical, acceptable, achievable, compatible with the business objectives and add value to the business
  • Ensure environmental issues are discussed and actions taken at senior management level

The Environmental Policy will be reviewed at intervals to ensure that it remains valid and reflects the company’s activities and potential impacts.

Our statement of general policy is:-

  • To use sustainable products where available
  • To use products made from recycled materials where available
  • To provide training on proper use and disposal of PPE’s
  • To recycle all waste materials to their full extent where appropriate
  • To engage appropriate services for the removal and recycling of paper products, ink & toner cartridges
  • To be proactive and cost effective in our gas/fuel & electrical usage
  • To instruct all staff in environment friendly work practices
  • To encourage & help the service user in friendly recycling practices
  • To work along side other organisations & professionals within the borough to raise awareness of carbon management, to share these experiences & best practices
